Eureka 4870GZ Boss Smart-Vac Upright Vacuum (China Industrial Vacuum Cleaner)

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

Let’s face it. Most vacuums just don’t cut it when it comes to really cleaning a home or office. Pesky pet hair embeds deeper in carpet than traditional vacuums go; bits and pieces of tracked-in dirt and debris hunker down under floor trim just out of reach of the latest brush innovations, rendering us to the silliness of handpicking behind that expensive vacuum, filling our pockets with lint, and wondering-who’s really the boss? Troubles like these made the folks at Eureka get down and dirty and, ultimately, design the Boss Smart-Vac Upright Vacuum.

Offering powerful performance for everyday household cleaning, the Eureka Boss is the solution for people who insist on having a truly clean home. The Boss’s Direct Air Control System features an air selector switch that lets you direct all suction either deep into the carpet or to the hose for easy above-the-floor cleaning. The Power Paw brush makes it easy to clean stairs and upholstery, and even claws up embedded pet hair, so Fido can spend more time inside. The motorized brush lets you go from carpet- to bare floor-cleaning with the flick of a switch. The Boss Smart-Vac is powered by a beefy, 12-amp motor that provides plenty of suction power for deep cleaning carpets, and leaves nothing behind on hard floors.

Pretty smart; right? Well, here’s the really smart part. The Boss Smart-Vac isn’t just the best household carpet- and floor-cleaning vacuum on the market; it’s also equipped with a unique, sealed HEPA filtration system that captures 99.97 percent of dust, pollen, allergens, and bacteria. So, vacuuming the house doesn’t mean you have to dust afterward, or sneeze while you’re doing it. Cleaner carpets and cleaner indoor air at the same time!

Plus, the Boss is loaded with user-friendly features to take the frustration out of vacuuming. A wide cleaning path covers a lot of ground quickly before company comes. And, unlike inferior models, the Boss is designed with a brush-view window that shows you how hard it’s working, letting you actually see the powerful brush roller remove dirt from carpets and floors. The exclusive dust trap system captures debris and dust in three stages. A handy stretch hose extends to five times its original length for reaching around furniture and sucking the cobwebs off the ceiling. And, a 30-foot cord won’t leave you coming up short. The bare floor brush is designed to smoothly glide across wood and tile floors while picking up more dust and debris in corners and along baseboards than any other model. –Brian Olson
Customer Review: Love it!!!!
I am really happy with this vacuum!! I works great, is self propelled and picks up dog hair like crazy!! I love the fact that it has the option to turn off the rotating brush when I am vacuuming hard wood floors. The only thing I don’t like (which is minor) is the fact that you have to turn a dial to change the “mode” from floor to hose. I am used to just pulling out the hose and the switch being automatic, so it is more a “user flaw” than a product flaw. But over all, I have been really happy with this product, and considering the fact that I am a “clean freak” with two dogs and three kids, I can’t complain!!
Customer Review: Trouble, trouble, trouble
This vacuum was purchased as a wedding present for us 2 1/2 years ago. We put the vacuum on our registry after reading Consumer Reports’ recommendation. I have to seriously question the methodology they use to rate products now. We have had to repair this vacuum innumerable times. Almost every other time we use the vacuum, we have to address some issue, which requires unscrewing the bottom of the unit that surrounds the brush roll. We finally had enough and threw this vacuum in the dumpster. It’s more trouble than its worth. It’s my understanding now that repair centers see this vacuum far more frequently than any other vacuum, due to the poor quality of its design.

My wife and I also noticed that the HEPA filter rarely needs to be replaced, signaling to us that it’s not doing its job. .

Hoover S2220 Flair Bagless Upright Stick Vacuum with Power Nozzle (What Is The Best Vacuum Cleaner)

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

The Hoover S2220 “Flair” Bagless Powered Nozzle cleans your floors easily, comfortably and completely. The bagless design is easy to clean out, the large wheels make it easy to move and the power nozzle gets deep into cracks and carpeting for a cleaner floor. Easy storage hang-up slot Works on all floors
Customer Review: Hoover Flair Vacuum
We use this product in our podiatry office. It is very efficient and our medical assistants love the fact it is so lightweight. It is very easy to use and the price fits our budget.
Customer Review: Disappointing…
The vacuum is great on paper. Nice form factor, lightweight, bagless and a Hoover…
Well from the first uses it was clear that some things were wrong with this vacuum. The device becomes scortching hot after using it for just 1-2 rooms (my gf used it first, and was complaining it was burning her legs). There is also a strange smell when you use it - it kept me worried it would explode while I was using it. After 3 months of using it for weekly vacuuming of a 1-br appartment, it overheats and stops working after 5 minutes of use. Now that I think about it it is a miracle it didn’t overheat right from the start - or maybe not a miracle just designed to work at first.
The suction is very poor, unless you use the power nozzle even for non-carpet floors (it is the “carpet” mode). But if you use the power nozzle it overheats in 2 minutes…
I really don’t understand the engineering of this thing, a vacuum handles a strong air flow, so it is the easiest device to cool. Who designed this disaster?
Anyway, it will be too expensive to send back, so I guess it will have to go to the garbage.
I will not do the mistake of trusting Hoover in the future. I was replacing my (cheaper!) dirt devil, expecting this to be a better product. Well even the Dirt Devil turns out to have better suction (and of course no overheating problems)…
I was fooled by the good reviews. I always go by the Amazon reviews, and I can’t believe I received the same item. I would think I received a problematic part, however the problem seems to be a major design flaw, not a random part failure. .

Vacuum Diagrams (Rainbow Vacuum Repair)

“And everywhere the Humans went, they found life …”

This dazzling future history, winner of the 2000 Philip K. Dick Award, is the most ambitious and exciting since Asimov’s classic Foundation saga. It tells the story of Humankind — all the way to the end of the Universe itself.

Here, in luminous and vivid narratives spanning five million years, are the first Poole wormholes spanning the solar system; the conquest of Human planets by Squeem; GUTships that outrace light; the back-time invasion of the Qax: the mystery and legacy of the Xeelee, and their artifacts as large as small galaxies; photino birds and Dark Matter; and the Ring, where Ghost, Human, and Xeelee contemplate the awesome end of Time.

Stephen Baxter is the most acclaimed and accomplished of a brilliant new generation of authors who are expanding the vision of science fiction and taking itto a new golden age.

Customer Review: dang fine
I place this one as middle of the pack Baxter. That makes it a very fine book. Whenever I read a Baxter book, my scientific background fills in a bit more. In the study of math and physics, some concepts are memorized equations and others are ideas expressed in mathematical language. As I understand more, I get to move things from the memorized box over to the idea box. Vacuum Diagrams helped quantum wave functions to finally click.

That’s the wonder of Baxter’s story telling. The narative brings life to the math.

As for the story, it is a collection of short stories bound together by a narative. The technique works amazingly well. It also gives a nice overview of where a lot of the other books sit in relation to the grand universal arc that runs through Baxter’s books.

Having read so much Baxter, I didn’t have the wide eyed wonder that my first encounter invoked. I did, however, enjoy it enough that I missed some new episodes of Stargate (atlantis and SG1)
Customer Review: A Journey Along the Broad Path of Time
cuum Diagrams throws us far into the vast expanse of space and time and won’t let us return, though we shudder at the sheer enormity of its vision. It shows us this vision, the 4,000,000 year future of mankind, through short stories that are connected through a common narrator. Each one is exiting and awe-inspiring, taking us on journeys that show the advancement, and at times the degradation, of mankind.
As we sail these great seas of time we are witness to many events and great happenings, all of heart stopping importance. We watch the conquering of the solar system, made possible through the use of enormous wormholes, whipping us through the fabric of space-time at unheard of speeds. We stand alongside those who resist the Qax invasion and watch as they tragically fall. We gaze at the impossible craftsmanship of the Xelee, masters of the universe, and then turn in fear as their nightships descend upon our worlds with a calculated efficiency that man is powerless to stop. We ride along with the battle arks, massive ships the size of our moon, equipped with gigantic weapons of war and filled with enough warriors to invade a solar system. And then our eyes fall upon the heartbreaking beauty of the Xelee Ring. Fabricated from the very material of the cosmos itself, it stretches a hundred million miles in to the black oblivion, ripping galaxies apart and pulling them into its core. This is where the mystery lies, at that bright point where all the universe is headed. Why have the Xelee built this audacious construct? And what purpose does it have in man’s future? Immerse yourself in this spell binding novel, and maybe you will find the answers. .

Customer Review: useless

Customer Review: great little vac
Have used this small but powerful vacuum in the house, shed and garage. It is fantastic - beats my home upright for its sucking power! Haven’t yet used the blower function, but it’s good to have when you need it. Great product.
Customer Review: GREAT VAC
This is a very powerful vac that reaches all the little crevices in my auto…it’s also a great pet vac, (dogs and horses). I mounted it on a cart with compartments for the tools and added a retracting extension cord. Great purchase. .

F-1 Type Filter for use with M085810
Customer Review: Hepa Filter
Works just as well as the original filter, it just took a little longer to secure it into place and remove it. Also cheaper than any department or vacuum store in my area. If only it came with some one to empty and clean the filter.
Customer Review: Dirt Devil Filters

Customer Review: worked for less than a year, too cheap
This vac had decent suction at first, but that didn’t last long, now doesn’t have any suction less than one year after purchase. So much for the 2 year warranty, they advised me to drive it to the nearest service center, hardly worth the time and gas. Not to mention it always blew out air and dust particles from the top every time I used it. Junk.
Customer Review: Just what I needed
It was more than I expected. I got my money’s worth out of it right away. The only thing that I don’t like is the battery life is not that long. Other than that, a great buy. .
